Riddhima Sen is an emerging voice in the literary world, known for her creativity and passion for storytelling. With her unique perspective and heartfelt writing, she captures emotions that resonate deeply with readers. In this exclusive author interview, she opens up about her inspirations, challenges, and vision for the future as a writer.
1. Can you tell us about your journey as a writer and what inspired you to begin writing?
Answer: I have always loved writing since my childhood. Having been writing stories since the age of six, my first work was published online in class eleven, and my first poetry anthology came out in class twelve . Since then, the journey has been pretty smooth. As an introverted kid in childhood, writing has always felt almost natural.
2. What themes or ideas do you love exploring the most in your stories?
Answer: Social and psychological themes are my favourite niche of genres. Currently exploring Nordic Noirs and thrillers of a different kind.
3. Who are some authors, books, or even life experiences that have influenced your writing style?
Answer: I am a big fan of Agatha Christie. Still remember reading her books after borrowing them from the school library. That influenced me to focus on thrillers. My favourite books include The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri or The Hungry Tide by Amitav Ghosh. Currently reading The Silent Patient, a birthday gift from a best friend. As for life events, it has been the uphill journey of life mostly.
4. Writing often comes with challenges—what was the biggest challenge you faced and how did you overcome it?
Answer: The biggest challenge I ever faced was writer’s block. A short duration when it’s hard to imagine and write, often stemming from demotivation. Countering demotivation is the hardest, but not really impossible. Listening to music helps with this.
5. What message do you hope readers take away from your work?
Answer: Well , I can only hope that readers learn about the beauty of life from the poetry anthologies since the poems mostly focus on life. As for the thrillers, the expectation is taking away on the thrill and suspense of life.
6. What can readers expect next from you—are there any upcoming projects or books you’re working on?
Answer: My next book is on its way soon. Titled Furry Wings, it is a tribute to my pet dog who passed away just some time ago .
