My love for singing began in my childhood, when I received training in Rabindra Sangeet from a renowned personality in Shillong.
After my marriage, I began writing and composing my own songs in the 1990s. During that time, I also participated in singing programmes with my friend, Ms. Nayampally, who sadly passed away last year. I cherish the memories of those days.
Recently, as a senior artist, I have started recording my original compositions. I actively participate in various online singing programmes and stage performances. I have also received several prizes for my singing.
This Durga Puja, I composed two songs in a very short time—one in Bengali and the other in Hindi.
The meaning of my Bengali song, titled “Today, Mother Durga Has Arrived,” is as follows:
The drums are beating—Mother has arrived!
The whole earth rejoices in delight.
Mother is adorned in countless colours,
Bringing beauty to every place.
To the rhythmic beats of the dhak and other musical instruments,
Waves of happiness spread far and wide.
This is only a partial translation of the song, as the complete meaning has not yet been translated into English.
After I composed the Bengali song, my granddaughter began singing it. She loved its beautiful tune and simple, easy-to-understand lyrics. It was a heartwarming moment for me to see her enjoy a song composed by her grandmother.
So far, I have completed only the audio recordings of these two songs. Unfortunately, I have not yet been able to make videos for them.
I hope to share my original compositions with a wider audience and continue my musical journey with the same love and passion that inspired me in childhood.
The song is a personal experience, a spiritual feeling, and festive inspiration.
