Dr. Shafiqa Gul — Ph.D. (Business Administration) | Researcher | Author | Academician | HR Management Specialist
Some careers are built on credentials. Dr. Shafiqa Gul’s is built on a relentless curiosity for understanding how systems, communities, and people truly function — and the discipline to research, document, and publish that understanding for the benefit of others.
A Ph.D. holder in Business Administration, researcher, author, and academician, Dr. Gul has carved a distinguished space for herself across an unusually wide range of disciplines — Human Resource Management, Entrepreneurship, Tribal Development, Migration Studies, Healthcare Management, Women Empowerment, and Socio-Economic Research.
A Foundation Built on Excellence
Dr. Gul completed her Doctorate in Business Administration at the Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), Awantipora, where her doctoral research compared performance appraisal systems in public and private super-specialty hospitals across Northern India — work that reflects her signature interdisciplinary approach, blending management theory with pressing social and economic realities.
Her academic journey began with distinction. She completed her Bachelor’s in Business Administration (BBA) at the University of Kashmir, where she was recognised as the Second Topper of her batch, before going on to complete her MBA at the same university, deepening her expertise in strategic management, organisational behaviour, and business analytics.
A Career of Teaching and Mentorship
Dr. Gul has served as Assistant Professor of Human Resource Management at the Islamic University of Science and Technology and as a Lecturer at Nawakadal Degree College, contributing extensively to teaching, mentoring, curriculum development, and research. A Researcher of National Standing
Dr. Gul’s research career spans more than six years and several prestigious, government-backed projects. She served as Senior Research Fellow at the Tribal Research Institute (TRI), Department of Tribal Affairs, Government of Jammu and Kashmir, where her work on tribal products and the marketing challenges faced by tribal artisans contributed meaningfully to understanding indigenous entrepreneurship and livelihoods.
She has also worked as a Research Associate on an ICMR-sponsored project examining the psycho-social and economic well-being of elderly migrants at the Business School, University of Kashmir, under the mentorship of Dr. Farzana Gulzar. Earlier in her career, she served as a Junior Research Fellow on a UGC-sponsored project studying healthcare professionals’ satisfaction with performance appraisal systems — research recognised and awarded by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. She also contributed as Research Coordinator on the Ministry’s Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY), focused on skill development and employability.
