India has been a colony for a long period of time. For approximately two hundred years, Indian people have been subjected to utmost colonization and oppression. The British colonizers came to India in search of spices, black pepper and silks, and ended up colonizing the subcontinent while residing there. The Revolutionary Movement in India began at a later period, than when the initial effects started to show. The awakening of the citizens took place at a delayed pace, upon being reawakened by the freedom fighters of India. In order to gain independence from the British Raj, freedom fighters had to pay a lot.
Places like Bengal and Punjab were powerhouses of revolution at a point of time when the hours of oppression shone dominantly. Beginning since 1857, the struggle for independence was a long, hard battle. Youngsters threw away their life and career for the sake of the country’s independence, discarding bright academic futures. Revolutionaries like Bhagat Singh, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Sukhdev, Rajguru, Rash Behari Bose, Aurobindo Ghosh, Masterda Surya Sen, Bagha Jatin and various other individuals fought for the sake of the country. Aiming to ensure the progression of one’s country is the highest proof of nationalism and love for one’s country.
