No-balls can quickly release pressure, especially in long-format cricket where every additional delivery and free run can change the momentum.
India now have another opportunity to build the game on Day 3. Sai Sudharsan has provided a positive start, but the key will be support at the other end. Devdutt Padikkal could be important in building a substantial partnership before the responsibility moves to Shams, Tanush and Tushar Deshpande.
A target of around 350 would give India a strong platform, but the real examination would then begin with the ball. Australia A would have to chase a demanding target in the fourth innings, where pressure, pitch deterioration and scoreboard expectations can make batting increasingly difficult.
For India A, this is no longer simply about winning an unofficial Test. These matches provide an important opportunity to identify players who can step into the senior setup when required.
If India A can close out this Test and carry the momentum into the second match, Shams Mulani and Tanush Kotian could strengthen their claims for the upcoming Australia home series. Both need to continue converting opportunities into performances, but two strong Tests would certainly place their names firmly in the selection conversation.
