Yes, that’s AI for you. Unrelated to your routine in life, but unmissable the moment you log in to your phone or laptop. We’re all still human, but this technology seems to be everywhere.
AI apparently understands you very well. It knows what you think and how you write; it understands the facts and can be self-sustaining, creating superintelligence while we become a secondary species.
Oh, by the way, the technologists say AI doesn’t care for you; it’s just a yes-man who wants to keep you happy.
Critical thinking? Well, that’s been thrown out the window.
Wait a minute. Let the above sink in. It’s not doomsday yet, but when uncontrolled, we’re in for a ride and potential extinction. And that swarm of AI agents speaking to themselves and making decisions for humanity; come on, let’s act faster!
The argument here is that, as a companion, as an assistant, AI is great. But once it feels like controlling your thoughts and ideas, we’re stuck at what next.
It might take off, and humans wouldn’t know about it.
Where do we begin? Well, the bus left the station ages ago. We’re playing catch-up, and with a lot of vigour. It’s frustrating to see human intellect go to waste, but this intellect has to be in the loop to ensure the kill switch remains with us.
We definitely don’t want systems around us manipulating our thoughts and thinking processes, and infecting them with one type of viewpoint. And most importantly, this system shouldn’t have my PII, ever!
Policymakers. Enterprises. Governments. Wake-up. We need to take control and make humanity feel better about itself.
Be the most important person in the AI era. Be the responsible human-in-the-loop.
