V.S. Sury
V.S. Sury is an author from Kolar, Karnataka, India who began his writing journey after retiring as an engineer in 2005. Since then, he has written six books, including Jestus, Jestus on Rampage, Fentoscience, Parallels, Impossible Tales, and Chetas in Kannada. His books Jestus and Jestus on Rampage received the Golden Book Awards in 2024 and 2025, while Jestus also earned the Sahitya Sparsh Award. Deeply inspired by great authors around the world, V.S. Sury enjoys reading, writing, and spirituality. His latest book, Chetas, was released in November 2025, and he is currently preparing a drama manuscript for publication.

- After retiring as an engineer in 2005, what inspired you to begin your journey as a writer?
The urge to write came, without doubt, came from so many (oh, so many and such variety) great writers. Great writers abound on this earth. God bless them.
- Your books cover a variety of themes and genres. How do you decide the subject or idea for a new book?
Ideas just crop up. Then they goad me write!
- Jestus and Jestus on Rampage received the Golden Book Awards. How did you feel receiving such recognition for your work?
Happy. And a bit surprised, truth to tell.
- Your latest book Chetas was released in Kannada in November 2025. What makes this book special to you?
That is my first book in the Kannada language!
- You mentioned spirituality as one of your interests. Does spirituality influence your writing style or storytelling?
No. Spirituality, in its pure essence is beyond all such things.
- You have completed a drama manuscript that is awaiting publication. Could you share a little about this upcoming work?
It is in English. It draws inspiration from my own book, JESTUS (last two chapters). The manuscript has been accepted for publication and may probably come out August or September.
- Your message to readers is “Be positive always. Learn, learn, learn.” What advice would you like to give aspiring writers and young readers today?
Do not depend on AI too much. Use it as a tool and prompt only. Guard your creativity.
