The Art of Beautiful Writing — and a Life Lived with Purpose
M S Saritha and the story behind MANSA Calligraphy

M S Saritha — Founder, MANSA Calligraphy
When Mathampet Sugathen Saritha — known simply as M S Saritha — picked up a calligraphy pen, she was not just learning an art form. She was building a dream, brick by careful stroke.
Saritha holds a BA in English, PGDCAP, DFT, CIDTT, and an MS in Psychology. But her greatest qualification may be the one no institution can confer: twenty years of unwavering dedication to education. As an English facilitator, student counsellor, trainer, co-ordinator, calligraphist, designer, and entrepreneur, she has worn many hats — and worn each one with distinction.
“Conviction and dedication.”
Her motto. Her life.
Over the past twelve years, Saritha has trained more than 10,000 teachers across 120 schools, covering areas as varied as classroom management, activity-based learning, and understanding student behaviour. She does not just teach; she transforms the way educators think about their craft.
But it is through MANSA Calligraphy — The Art of Beautiful Writing — that her vision has found its fullest and most beautiful expression.

Founded and led by Saritha, MANSA Calligraphy is based in Trichy and has grown into one of the region’s most respected centers for the art of beautiful writing. The institution’s mission is clear: to nurture creativity and precision in calligraphy, empowering students to express themselves through a discipline that is equal parts art and intention. Its vision is bolder still — to become a leading center for calligraphy excellence, inspiring a love for the art and fostering skilled artists who blend tradition with innovation.

MANSA Calligraphy competition — featured in regional press
The impact of MANSA Calligraphy is visible not just in classrooms but in communities. A large-scale calligraphy competition organised by MANSA drew participation from 26 schools and over 25,000 students across Trichy and beyond — a remarkable achievement that earned wide media coverage and public recognition. The event was more than a competition; it was a celebration of the written word and proof that the art of handwriting, far from fading, is thriving in the hands of the next generation.

MANSA Calligraphy School Programme
Saritha’s school programme addresses a very real concern among parents: children losing marks because of poor or illegible handwriting, struggling with cursive, or never having been taught the fundamentals of letter formation. MANSA steps in with structured, joyful learning — from cursive for beginners to advanced styles and chisel-pen designs. The summer camp offerings extend further still, covering phonics, dance, Hindi, yoga, mehandi, and art and craft — reflecting Saritha’s belief that a child’s growth cannot be confined to a single discipline.
What drives this work is not ambition alone. Saritha believes that quality must never be compromised, regardless of circumstance. She holds herself to the same standard she sets for her students. No namesake business. No shortcuts. Only real work, done properly, with conviction.
She is also candid about her personal journey — a woman who has navigated family challenges and continued to build, to teach, and to create, with the focus of someone who knows exactly why she gets up every morning. In her own words, she is a lady who fights to survive and achieve her dreams, despite all odds, with good people around her who believe in her work.
That quiet resilience is perhaps the most powerful lesson MANSA Calligraphy teaches — that beautiful things are created not in ease, but in discipline, in patience, and in the refusal to give up.
M S Saritha is not just teaching children how to write beautifully. She is showing them — and everyone around her — how to live with purpose.
